PM Kobakhidze: We launch GEL 2 billion project for new sports infrastructure

“One of our main priorities and tasks is to promote the development of sports and, especially, the development of sports infrastructure,” stated the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, during his speech at the handball players’ award ceremony.

As the head of government noted, the Georgian government has ambitious plans for sports.

“Along with the success in sports, interest is growing, especially among children, towards sports and involvement in sports, which makes me very happy. But unfortunately, our infrastructure currently cannot meet this growing demand.

One of our main tasks is the development of sports infrastructure. We have already announced a 2 billion project, which will create an entirely new infrastructure designed for both elite and recreational sports.

I promise you that special attention will be paid to the development of handball within this project. We will give maximum attention to the development of handball and our national team,” stated Irakli Kobakhidze.
