PM Kobakhidze: We can do everything, even enact law, to prevent hate from being artificially imposed on our society

“A response is undeniably needed against the coordinated attack on our national identity. We are doing everything in our power to prevent hate from being artificially imposed on our society,” Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.

According to the head of government, these individuals have a specific mandate to try and weaken our national identity, and they are pulling out all the stops to achieve this; however, the government must take every possible measure to counter such actions.

“We have not yet discussed this bill, but what I can tell you is this: a response is undeniably needed against the coordinated attack on our national identity. We are doing everything in our power to prevent hate from being artificially imposed on our society. Appropriate laws were passed for this very purpose, and they even protested against those. A law designed to shield our society from hatred even drew their open protest. Here too, they did not shy away from openly admitting that they are the ones sowing hatred. Those who protested the passage of that law are precisely the ones artificially sowing hate and aggression in our society, both from abroad and within the country.

As for the specific insult of saints, public figures, and our great kings, this too is part of an ordinary, commissioned chain of coordinated acts. These are not merely talentless individuals, for example; these are people executing a specific task. The essence of that task is simple: they must attempt to weaken our national identity, and that is why they are doing all of this. We must take every measure to oppose this, and if enacting a law is required for this purpose, we can certainly discuss that as well,” the Prime Minister noted.
