PM Kobakhidze: Our objective is to complete Phase One works and have Anaklia Deep Sea Port receive its first vessels by 2029

“Our objective is to complete Phase One works by 2029 and have Anaklia Deep Sea Port receive its first vessels; we are moving in the right direction, and work has been accelerated as far as possible,” Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.

As the Head of Government noted, there is tremendous interest in the port of Anaklia, including among Georgia’s international partners.

“This includes Central Asian countries, our neighbouring states, Middle Eastern nations, as well as European companies and European countries. Consequently, this port holds immense potential. Our goal is to complete Phase One as swiftly as possible. Our objective is to finish Phase One works by 2029 so that Anaklia Deep Sea Port can receive its first vessels, and we are moving in the right direction.

Progress has been accelerated to the maximum. We experienced a minor delay due to the contract being reviewed, which reduced the contract value by approximately USD 50 million, for which I once again extend my gratitude to the Ministry of Economy and the Minister of Economy personally. Works are now continuing uninterrupted, allowing us to make the optimistic assessment that the port will receive its first vessels by 2029, representing the interests of numerous countries,” Irakli Kobakhidze stated.
