PM Kobakhidze meets Joanna Burton, new head of ICRC delegation to Georgia
Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia, met Joanna Burton, the newly appointed Head of the Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Georgia.
According to the government administration, the Head of Government congratulated Burton on her appointment and wished her every success in her new role.
He underscored the International Committee of the Red Cross’s vital role in the search for missing persons and in supporting their families.
It was noted that, to date, the remains of 334 missing persons have been identified, while 1835 individuals are still considered missing. The parties emphasised the importance of continuing the joint efforts of the Government of Georgia and the ICRC in addressing this humanitarian issue.
Tea Akhvlediani, State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality, and Levan Zhorzholiani, Head of Government Administration of Georgia, attended the meeting.
