“Generally speaking, the current situation within our higher education system is far from enviable. It is precisely for this reason that we have established a comprehensive strategy for higher education reform,” Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.

As the Head of Government noted, one key principle of this strategy is “one city, one faculty”, according to which academic faculties have been redistributed among universities.

“Streamlining will allow us to make the most efficient use of available resources, which are currently quite limited. This is one of the main pillars of the reform, and institutional changes within our state universities have been carried out under this principle. Naturally, this reform will be brought to completion within the appropriate timeframe, ultimately delivering significantly higher standards of higher education for our students, for Georgian students,” Irakli Kobakhidze stated.
