PM Kobakhidze: Georgia withstood immense pressure to avoid war and destruction
“We had to endure extremely serious pressure to save our country – in the literal sense of the word – from war and destruction,” Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated to journalists.
When asked whether more information could have been provided to the public about a foreign ambassador directly urging Irakli Garibashvili to involve Georgia in the war, the Prime Minister responded that the team received this information from Garibashvili immediately.
“Overall, the processes we went through from early February, even before the war began, were extremely difficult. Everything continued after the war started, with the first days after the outbreak being the most challenging, including the respective meetings. Then there were intensive processes in March, and you remember what happened in June when we were unjustly denied the EU candidate status, which they used as a basis to attempt a revolution to destabilize this country and drag Georgia into war. These were difficult processes, and that message received personally by Irakli Garibashvili from a specific individual was just one small episode of these events. We had to withstand very serious pressure to save our country – in the literal sense of the word – from war and destruction. That’s what I’m talking about,” stated Irakli Kobakhidze.
