PM Kobakhidze: For three years, we've stressed what Trump's administration now acknowledges: they sacrificed our ally Ukraine—but for what?"

“What we were talking about for three years and for which we were labelled as pro-Russian, anti-Western, is now being repeated word for word by the new U.S. administration, including our statements about Ukraine,” Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.

Irakli Kobakhidze’s comment responded to U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s statement that: “Putin committed atrocities, but there was no sincerity when we somehow convinced people that Ukraine could not only defeat Russia but destroy it.”

According to Irakli Kobakhidze, the Georgian government saved the country from the tragedy unfolding in Ukraine.

“I cannot predict how successful the new administration will ultimately be in fully defeating the Deep State, but for the current situation, we should already express gratitude to Trump’s administration. The reality is that what we have been discussing for the past three years—during which we were labelled as pro-Russian and anti-Western—is now being echoed word for word by the new U.S. administration. This includes our statements about Ukraine, which have now been mirrored by the new administration.

Remember, we spent three years substantiating what Trump’s administration is saying today: they actually sacrificed our allied country, and for what? That remains a significant question mark with no tangible results. The only outcome is a devastated Ukraine: 20% of its territory lost, more than half of its electricity generation gone, and, most tragically, hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians dead.

No one seems to have an answer for why all this occurred; however, there is, of course, an answer. It stemmed from some grotesque global interests, the most insidious of motives, for which our ally Ukraine was sacrificed.

As Mr. Rubio remarked, it may take roughly 100 years—a full century—for Ukraine to return to the state it was in before 2014. This has been a tragic situation, and we worked to spare our country from this fate.

The case is reminiscent of three years ago when they approached us with similar narratives—claiming that Ukraine was winning the war and urging us not to let this opportunity go to waste. They communicated this to us behind closed doors while advocating for a second front. We maintained a cautious position, and today, as experience illustrates and Mr. Rubio’s statements confirm, our approach was both right and justified,” stated the Prime Minister.
