PM Kobakhidze: Connectivity key to Georgia-Azerbaijan cooperation

“Further development of the connectivity function is a special priority for our country, and it is particularly prioritized for bilateral cooperation,” stated Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during joint statements following his face-to-face meeting with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev.

According to Kobakhidze, the existing potential must be fully utilized, and joint projects serve exactly this purpose.

“Together, our two countries can play a special role in terms of connectivity. Geographically, we connect Europe and Asia, West and East, and we must fully utilize this potential. This is exactly what the projects that have already been implemented with the participation of both states serve – I’m talking about strategic projects. As already mentioned, there are ongoing and planned projects that will help maximize the utilization of this function by our states. We are ready to further deepen our partnership in this direction and work actively,” stated Irakli Kobakhidze.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of further deepening trade and economic relations.

Irakli Kobakhidze invited Ilham Aliyev to Georgia.

“Bilateral trade and economic relations are very important, and we are pleased that in recent years Azerbaijan has consistently ranked among our top five trading partners. Here too, it is crucial to further deepen our partnership, and we discussed this at today’s commission meeting, as well as during bilateral meetings.

Our relationship and cooperation have a very solid foundation, which is the historical friendship between our peoples. It is our responsibility to our people to maximize efforts to further deepen our political and economic cooperation based on this friendship. The Georgian side will do everything for this.

I want to thank our Azerbaijani friends, partners, and personally Mr. President for their support and backing, for the extraordinary partnership. In this spirit, we will ensure maximum cooperation and friendship from our side. We are looking forward to President Aliyev’s visit to Georgia, and we have great hope that we will have the opportunity to host him in our country this year,” stated Irakli Kobakhidze.
