PM Kobakhidze announces launch of election campaign for October 4 municipal race

“Today marks the official start of our election campaign as we unveil the main candidate for the upcoming local self-government elections, the candidate for mayor of our beautiful capital, Tbilisi,” Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia and Chairman of the Georgian Dream party, stated.

The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the Georgian people for the confidence they demonstrated and for their decisive choice in favour of peace, dignity, and development on October 26, 2024, in the parliamentary elections that were effectively a referendum.

“Today, on this beautiful and peaceful evening, we have no right not to thank the Georgian people for the trust they placed in us during last year’s parliamentary elections on October 26. These elections, which served as a de facto referendum, reflected the Georgian society’s clear choice in favour of peace, dignity, and development.

It is this victory that has enabled us to turn our full attention today toward the development of each municipality, city, and village. Over the next four years, we are committed to bringing even greater vitality and prosperity to every corner of Georgia.

Peace to Georgia, greater prosperity for Tbilisi, and ongoing development across every region and corner of our country. This is our mission, which, with the support of our society, we are fully committed to fulfilling over the next four years.

Once again, I would like to commend Mr. Bidzina Ivanishvili, who in 2012 liberated Georgia from the grip of severe external authoritarianism and set our country on a path of true development. Since then, Georgia has enjoyed 13 years of continuous peace, and our nation remains more independent and sovereign than ever before. For the fifth consecutive year, Georgia has topped Europe in economic growth. All of this is a testament to Mr. Bidzina Ivanishvili’s leadership, and together with you, I extend my deepest gratitude to him once again,” noted Irakli Kobakhidze.
