Holders of Olympic medals will receive monetary prizes. Gold – 1 million GEL, silver – half a million, bronze – 250 thousand GEL, said Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili during the meeting with Olympic delegation members at the State Ceremonies Palace.
PM noted that winning 8 medals was a record result in the history of independent Georgia. He said Georgia ranked among the top-10 countries with the achievement.
Garibashvili claimed that hard work, commitment and devotion before the country and people stood behind the success. “You set the example for future generations, children, who watch you,” he said when addressing the sportsmen.
Parliament Speaker Kakha Kuchava, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze and President of the Georgian National Olympic Committee Leri Khabelov attended the reception.
Georgian sportsmen won 8 medals (2 gold, 5 silver, 1 bronze) at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. It is the best result among Georgian Olympic achievements.
