PM: Herczynski is a tragic figure, even more tragic than his predecessor, Mr. Hartzell
“Mr. Herczynski [EU ambassador to Georgia] is a tragic figure, even more tragic than his predecessor, Mr. Hartzell,” Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.
The head of government said that Hartzell had been made to do everything against the Georgian people, only to be denied a decent position at the end of his diplomatic career.
“Mr. Herczynski is a tragic figure. I can tell you that once again. He is even more tragic than his predecessor, Mr. Hartzell. You know how Mr. Hartzell ended his diplomatic career. They made him do everything against the Georgian people, and in the end, they did not even grant him a decent position.
The same is happening in this case. They are making Mr. Herczynski do everything against the Georgian people, which is why he is truly a tragic figure. No other comment can be made about him. This person directly and blatantly interfered in our democratic elections. He openly called for action against the government during the election campaign, in favor of the radical opposition and unconstitutional parties, and directly encouraged violence in our country. It is impossible to make any in-depth comment about such a person,” Kobakhidze said.
The prime minister added that his remarks were a response to what he described as an attack on the Georgian people by the EU ambassador the previous day.
“Yesterday, the EU ambassador attacked the Georgian people, and I am responding to that. He attacked the Georgian people yesterday by attacking the government elected by the Georgian people. That is an attack on the people themselves.
They have chosen this approach, and we are responding. Every time, we are the ones responding; we never initiate these critical statements. They make certain remarks, and they do so in a completely disgraceful and unsubstantiated manner, leaving us with no choice but to respond,” Kobakhidze said.
