PM: Helsinki Commission follows 'Deep State' line

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said the U.S. Helsinki Commission is “very actively pursuing the line of the so-called Deep State,” adding that this is clearly visible in the case of Georgia. He made the remarks to journalists in Dubai.

Kobakhidze responded to a question about a social media post by an American journalist claiming the commission is “compromised by foreign forces and is actively working against Trump’s peace initiative.”

According to the Prime Minister, the Helsinki Commission has been used as a tool against Georgia’s interests.

“The example of Georgia also shows what processes are developing in the Helsinki Commission. You may recall that in the United States, the Helsinki Commission was used as the main tool against Georgia’s interests. Joe Wilson was specifically involved in this, and all of this was effectively exposed by information disseminated in the United States. Everyone sees that the Helsinki Commission is very actively pursuing the line of the so-called Deep State, and this is once again clearly visible in the example of Georgia,” Kobakhidze said.
