PM: Gov't commits to fair, free, and competitive elections; more observers are welcome

“We are open to monitoring the elections and hope that all observer missions will be actively represented in Georgia. We are conducting fair, free, and competitive elections, and the greater the number of observers that monitor them, the better,” stated Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.

The Prime Minister emphasized that, in light of local NGOs disseminating disinformation, it is essential for international election observer missions to provide an objective assessment of the polls.

Irakli Kobakhidze noted that, in February, Georgia extended invitations to the OSCE/ODIHR and PACE observers, reiterating that the more observers there are to monitor the elections, the better, as the government is committed to transparency in the upcoming electoral process.

“You can see that certain so-called local election observer organizations are publishing false reports. They continue to uphold a tradition that was evident during the 2020 parliamentary elections when they manipulated the Parallel Vote Tabulation (PVT) results and other data. They continue to operate with the same flawed approach.

Therefore, in the context of local NGOs spreading disinformation, international election observer missions must assess the polls impartially,” he asserted.
