PM: Georgian flag to fly, national anthem to be played for the first time at EURO 2024, believe in Georgia's victory

“The day has come, which the Georgian football fans have anticipated for 30 years. Today, the Georgian flag will fly, and the national anthem will be played for the first time at the European Championship,” said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze in his video address on the occasion of the Georgian national football team’s debut at the UEFA EURO 2024.

According to the PM, each Georgian is proud of this event and believes in Georgian football players.

“Today, I believe in our fellows as much as three months ago on March 26. I was convinced our fellows would pour hearts and souls into the match and secure a victory for Georgia. Today, I am sure that they will do the same and qualify for the next stage.

I believe in each football player: Mamardashvili, Loria, Gugeshashvili, Kashia, Kverkvelia, Gvelesiani, Tabidze, Gocholeishvili, Kakabadze, Lochoshvili, Dvali, Kiteishvili, Chakvetadze, Mekvabishvili, Sigua, Kochorashvili, Shengelia, Davitashvili, Tsitaishvili, Altunashvili, Kvekveskiri, Lobzhanidze, Mikautadze, Zivzivadze, Kvilitaia, Kvaratskhelia. I believe in the talent and patriotism of these fellows. I am convinced that Georgia will win!” the PM said.

The Georgian national football team will debut today at the UEFA EURO 2024 in a match against Turkey in Dortmund, Germany.
