PM: Georgia threatened with Maidan

“Those who spoke about the Maidan are the same people who set 20 per cent of the territories of Ukraine and Georgia in the hands of Russia, instead of taking responsibility, they now threaten Georgia with the Maidan,” said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.

According to the PM, specific individuals sacrificed tens of thousands of Ukrainians in the war.

“Those who spoke about the Maidan are the same people who set 20 per cent of the territories of Ukraine and Georgia in the hands of Russia. Specific individuals sacrificed tens of thousands of Ukrainians in the war and this followed the Maidan. Instead of taking responsibility, they now threaten Georgia with the Maidan and this is disturbing,” Kobakhidze said.

At the hearing Supporting Georgia’s Sovereignty and Democracy in the US Congress on June 4, former Ambassador of the US to Georgia, William Courtney said: “If we compare Ukraine and Georgia, for a long time they had a parallel path towards the European Union, towards a pro-Western future. Their problem was rigged elections or leaders who wanted to go back in time. Public revolutions took place, the Rose Revolution in Georgia and the Orange Revolution in Ukraine one year on, then another revolution in Ukraine in 2014, the Maidan.”
