PM: Georgia mourns passing of filmmaker Eldar Shengelaia, his legacy enriches nation’s cultural heritage
Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has expressed his heartfelt condolences following the passing of esteemed film director Eldar Shengelaia.
“I offer my deepest sympathies over the death of one of Georgia’s greatest filmmakers, Eldar Shengelaia. My condolences go out to his family, loved ones, and to all of Georgia.
Through Eldar Shengelaia, our nation has lost a brilliant director whose legendary films, including An Unusual Exhibition, The Eccentrics, and Blue Mountains, have left an indelible mark not only on cinema but also on Georgian culture as a whole.
As the beloved and remarkable films of Eldar Shengelaia will forever resonate with audiences, so too will the memory of this legendary Georgian filmmaker remain eternally in the hearts of our people and in the annals of our country’s history,” the Prime Minister’s condolence statement read.
