PM: Georgia has close relationship and partnership with Azerbaijan, Armenia
With Azerbaijan and Armenia, we have a very close relationship and partnership with both countries. They are brothers. They are friends, stated Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili at the panel discussion at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
“I did try two years ago to mediate or facilitate. We successfully did the first mediation when Azerbaijan released the detainees, and Armenia gave the maps for the mined territories to Azerbaijan. This was a successful attempt, but it’s a very complex situation. We understand there are many players in this region, and what I want to add to that is that I know that now the position of both leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia is that they want to deal with each other on a bilateral level. Personally, I think this is the right way to do this because with all the stakeholders and all the mediators, sometimes it becomes more conflicting, you know, and more counterproductive. Therefore, I wish them all the best. I very much hope that they will find a solution and they will soon sign the peace agreement,” the PM declared.
