PM said Georgia ranked 14th out of 200 Olympic teams, great achievement for small nation
Georgia currently ranks 14th among over 200 Olympic teams worldwide, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze declared at today’s Cabinet meeting.
Kobakhidze extended congratulations to Lasha Bekauri for winning Olympic gold and Tato Grigalashvili for securing silver.
“Our performance at the Olympics has been very successful. I want to congratulate Lasha Bekauri once again for his second Olympic gold medal. Three years ago, he promised to win three Olympic golds, and he has already achieved his second gold. Congratulations to him and the entire country on this extraordinary success.
I also want to congratulate Tato Grigalashvili on his Olympic silver medal. With our current rank of 14th among more than 200 countries, this is a tremendous accomplishment for our small nation. I thank each member of our Olympic team for their efforts.
Today, Ilia Sulamanidze in judo and boxer Lasha Guruli will be competing. Both have excellent chances, and I wish them and the entire team continued success in the coming days,” said the Prime Minister.
