PM: General Giorgi Kvinitadze's name to symbolize irreconcilability with occupation and struggle for freedom
“General Giorgi Kvinitadze’s name symbolizes irreconcilability with occupation and struggle for freedom. His repatriation to Georgia is a significant event for our country and people,” Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili wrote in the social network.
According to PM, work on repatriation of Kvinitadze’s remains began during his being a defense minister.
Remains of the Chief Military Commander of the Georgian First Republic, National Hero, General Giorgi Kvinitadze, were repatriated from France to Georgia on Saturday.
The official ceremony to commemorate the Georgian General, who died in emigration, was held at the Tbilisi International Airport. Civil Funerals will take place at Sameba Cathedral from May 22. Kvinitadze’s remains will be buried at Mtatsminda Cemetery of Public Figures on May 26.
