PM Garibashvili: Fall of Sokhumi remembered as tragic day in history

“The unification of Georgia is the goal of every Georgian, and it is founded on the belief that living in a unified, powerful, and the developed nation is the greatest future for our people,” Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili wrote on Facebook on the 29th anniversary of the fall of Sokhumi, occupied Abkhazia.

The way to unity, according to the PM, is only one of peace, dialogue, and collaboration. As the Prime Minister points out, September 27, 1993, was a horrible day in Georgian history.

“Following the conflict, hundreds of thousands of people were displaced in their homeland, and many of our fellow compatriots were killed. I’d like to extend my sympathies to their families once more,” he said.
