PM: February 25 marks beginning of relentless struggle for independence

February 25 of 1921 changed the development of Georgia for many decades and marks the beginning of relentless struggle for independence, said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili in his statement on the 102nd anniversary of the Soviet Occupation Day.

“On February 25, 1921, one of the most tragic events in our history took the lives of many of our compatriots – young cadets, soldiers and volunteers of the armed forces, civilians and changed the development of the country for many decades.

At the same time, February 25 became the day of the beginning of the relentless struggle for the final independence of Georgia.

Our freedom today is due to those who sacrificed themselves to prove that the struggle always has meaning, that in the end truth and dignity always win.

Even today, it is the historical truth and the example of heroes devoted to the motherland that lead us forward to new victories, to the unification and strengthening of the country,” the PM said.
