PM on anti-Namakhvani protest: Everyone has right to freedom of expression

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili echoed the anti-Namakhvani protest rally underway in Tbilisi, saying that everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression.

“There is complete freedom and democracy in our country since 2012. Everyone has the right to freedom of expression, including the right to protest via rallies. Therefore, what is happening now is normal,” PM underscored.

Anti-Namakhvani protesters are holding the rally at First Republic Square in downtown Tbilisi on Sunday.

The rally organizers unveiled an action plan saying that if the government does not halt contact with Turkish company ENKA, including all the documents signed since 2015, they will block Tbilisi streets on Monday, effective 12 a.m.

Moreover, they demand criminal proceedings against Georgian Economy Minister Natia Turnava and all those who signed the contract.
