PM: European bureaucracy crying over agents who ruled this country but distinguished precisely by their violation of rule of law, democracy, and human rights

“This individual labels the disgraceful scenes we witnessed on Rustaveli Avenue over the years as democracy and human rights. These were attempts to stage a revolution, attempts that were, regrettably but openly, supported by the European bureaucracy,” said Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, commenting on the statement by EU Ambassador to Georgia Paweł Herczynski.

According to the PM, Georgia upholds the principles of the rule of law, democracy, and human rights, and this is precisely one of the government’s key achievements since 2012.

“We acknowledge better than anyone what democracy and human rights are. Regrettably, the correct perception and analysis of this have been lost in Europe. Georgia steadfastly upholds the principles of the rule of law, democracy, and human rights, and this is precisely one of the government’s key achievements since 2012.

I regret that the European bureaucracy is crying over agents who ruled this country but were distinguished precisely by their violation of the rule of law, democracy, and human rights.

These people want to bring back to power the very force whose hallmark was, and remains, human rights violations, the disregard for democracy, and the trampling of the rule of law. Naturally, this is duly reflected in Georgian society’s attitude and sentiment toward the European bureaucracy,” he said.

“The European Union has never supported violence, neither in Georgia nor elsewhere,” EU Ambassador to Georgia Paweł Herczynski told reporters on the occasion of Europe Day in Kakheti. The Ambassador stated that the EU supported democracy, rule of law and human rights.
