PM emphasizes protecting individual rights and regulating propaganda through legislation

“The rights of any person should be protected, regardless of lifestyle. It is our obligation,” said Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, remarking on the draft bill On Protection of Family Values and Minors.

According to the PM, propaganda contains certain dangers, and it is fundamentally crucial to regulate it by law.

“We need to differentiate between human rights and propaganda. Human rights are protected in Georgia, and the rights of all individuals should be upheld, regardless of their lifestyle. However, propaganda is not acceptable. The proposed draft concerns propaganda. We had previously initiated a constitutional draft, but this is a regular bill that will be debated in the Georgian parliament, and this current parliament will finalize the process. Protecting the rights of all individuals is our duty, but propaganda poses certain dangers, so it is crucial to regulate it through legislation,” stated Irakli Kobakhidze.

The ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party initiated a draft legislative package of constitutional amendments on the Protection of Family Values and Minors.
