Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia received a report during the Task Force meeting on the work carried out overnight to address issues caused by heavy snowfall in the Guria region.
During the meeting, it was noted that, according to the plan, additional equipment has been mobilized in the region to clear central roads connecting villages as quickly as possible.
As Irakli Karseladze, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia stated, both international and domestic roads are being actively cleared. Intensive efforts have restored traffic on the Sajavakho-Chokhatauri-Ozurgeti route, with significant progress also made in clearing roads connecting villages to central areas.
It was emphasized that road clearance would enable relevant services to begin restoring electricity in critical areas. As of yesterday, approximately 10 000 customers in the region were without power. However, overnight efforts have partially restored electricity in Dzimiti and Jumati. Intensive work continues in Nasakirali, Vakijvari and Likhauri, where company representatives expect to fully restore power by the end of the day.
The Prime Minister of Georgia stressed the importance of swiftly restoring power supply and utility services for residents, issuing specific instructions to the Task Force members.
During the meeting, it was also mentioned that food supplies and essential goods would be delivered to municipalities within the next few hours to be distributed to the population.
Emergency medical teams continue operating under special conditions. On February 25-26, ambulance doctors responded to 81 calls in the municipalities of Ozurgeti, Chokhatauri and Lanchkhuti, providing medical assistance to 44 individuals and hospitalizing 30. Rural doctors are offering phone consultations and delivering necessary medications to residents when needed.
