“I am delighted to address all of you today on the important occasion of the National Day of the Republic of Türkiye. I would like to congratulate President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the people of Türkiye on this historic date,” said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili at the reception dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye.
According to the Head of Government, through its unwavering determination and consistent policies, over these 100 years, Türkiye has emerged as one of the key political and economic players in both regional and global affairs.
“100 years have passed since the proclamation of the Turkish Republic in 1923. Since its founding, this great country and the great nation has faced numerous challenges on its journey toward creating a modern, industrialized, and prosperous state. Through its unwavering determination and consistent policies, over these 100 years, Türkiye has emerged as one of the key political and economic players in both regional and global affairs. We highly value Türkiye’s significant contributions to promoting peace, stability, and development in its neighborhood and beyond.
I am very pleased to note that since regaining independence, Georgia and Türkiye have enjoyed a unique friendship and brotherhood and have maintained cooperation that has gradually evolved into a robust strategic partnership, which is particularly evident in our dynamic economic cooperation. For years, Türkiye has been one of Georgia’s major trade partners. This year, with the trade turnover exceeding USD 2 billion from January to September, Türkiye is Georgia’s number one trade partner, and we hope that this figure will reach USD 3 billion by the end of this year, marking another milestone in our cooperation.
Also, we are pleased to observe that Turkish companies continue to invest in Georgia’s economy with the figure reaching nearly USD 370 million in the past three years, while the number of Turkish companies currently operating in Georgia exceeds 10,000. We look forward to these numbers further increasing in the coming years as well.
“Due to the strategic locations of our countries, both Georgia and Türkiye have crucial roles as connecting links between Europe and Asia. Therefore, with the aim of increasing connectivity through the Middle Corridor, areas such as transport and energy will remain the driving forces behind expanding relations between our nations. I am delighted that we are both committed to implementing existing and proposed regional energy and infrastructure projects, including, but not limited to, Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline and the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway projects.
Dear friends, last, but not least, our collaboration is not only significant in terms of bilateral economic achievements, but also it is invaluable in securing peace, stability, and prosperity of our region, especially considering the existing alarming security environment in our region and globally.
In conclusion, I am convinced that excellent relations and cooperation between Georgia and Türkiye will strengthen and endure, and our partnership will play a profound role in realizing all our initiatives on both bilateral and regional, as well as multilateral levels. This will eventually contribute to the creation of a brighter future for our countries, nations, and the entire region.
May I once again congratulate President Erdogan, dear Ambassador – my dear friend, the Turkish people, and the Turkish community in Georgia on the National Day and sincerely wish continued success to Türkiye! Thank you very much!” the Prime Minister stated.
The event’s guests were addressed with a speech by the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Georgia Ali Kaan Orbay. The guests also listened to an address by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Türkiye. The national anthems of Türkiye and Georgia were performed. The event was attended by representatives of the executive and legislative branches, and of the diplomatic corps,” he said.
