Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili chaired the Economic Council meeting at the government administration.
The Minister of Education and Science, Giorgi Amilakhvari, introduced the vision of professional education development to the members of the Council, which the Ministry is actively working on. The importance of developing the necessary mechanisms for the active involvement of the private sector in professional education was emphasized.
The participants of the session discussed the reform of long-distance passenger transport, within the framework of which certification of bus stations and passenger transport operators will take place. As a result of the reform, the quality of service will improve, the level of security will increase.
The conversation also touched on the 2022-2028 forecasts published by the International Monetary Fund. It was noted that among the countries of the wider region and Europe, Georgia will have the highest economic growth in the medium term – 2023-2028 and will average 5.0%. Georgia shows significant progress in terms of significant improvements in per capita income and is one of the leaders in terms of per capita income growth among the wider region and European countries. According to the forecast of the IMF, as a result of high economic growth, poverty will decrease in the country, employment and incomes of citizens will increase.
The meeting also discussed energy projects and new initiatives, which will be prepared and submitted to the government meeting for approval in a short time.
