PM candidate sees opposition's parliament boycott as sabotage against state

“It was a deliberate sabotage against our state when the destructive force called opposition is boycotting the parliament,” Georgia’s Prime Ministerial candidate Irakli Garibashvili stated at the Parliament on Monday.

Garibashvili said the government welcomes a dialogue with the healthy opposition if they show strength, courage, and wisdom.

“I urge the opposition that the country’s future is the very ground for consensus. Our political positions may never draw closer to each other, but a healthy opposition, a discussion could help us refine them. People request their real problems be resolved. We should unite around the interests of society, our people, not a political program,” Gharibashvili declared.

Georgian Parliament will approve the new Cabinet today. Prime Ministerial candidate Irakli Garibashvili and his Cabinet members met with the Chairman of the governing Georgian Dream party before the confidence vote. The opposition rejected meeting with the new Cabinet in the faction format but will participate in the parliamentary session.
