PM: Campaign is underway on how Georgia should hand Abkhazia over to Russia

“The matter is very simple: the agents have received a new assignment and are carrying out that new assignment. They have launched a campaign about how Georgia should hand Abkhazia over to the Russian Federation. This is a very clear line of the campaign,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said in response to a journalist’s question.

According to Kobakhidze, those making such statements should not be offended when they are called “people without a homeland” and accused of lacking patriotism.

“The matter is very simple: the agents have received a new assignment and are carrying out that new assignment. Let me also remind you of Baramidze’s statement, which is directly connected with subsequent statements by Gvaramia, Samadashvili and others, as well as statements by NGO activists.

By the way, everything started with Baramidze’s statement. What is their assignment? Somehow they must prevent the restoration of trust. The campaign surrounding the supply of fuel is aimed precisely in this direction and is directly connected with Baramidze’s statement that they must somehow prevent the restoration of trust between Georgians and Abkhaz.

Baramidze’s statement, the campaign against the supply of fuel, Gvaramia’s statement, Samadashvili’s statement and so on — all of this is part of one unified campaign.

They are nervous when they see that the country is taking concrete steps in a specific direction. We sometimes use certain terms against these people, which they find offensive. But when you make such a statement, you should not then be offended when you are called a person without a homeland. I am referring to Gvaramia’s statement, in which he directly declared that handing over Abkhazia would mean liberation from pain and from historical memory. In this context, he assessed the developments in Armenia and directly linked them to the issue of Abkhazia.

Several months ago, they had another foreign agent, Davit Berdzenishvili, test this issue. Months ago, Berdzenishvili said exactly the same thing — that Armenia had made a wise decision by freeing itself from this historical memory and this pain — and he also discussed the issue in the context of Georgia.

Apparently, Berdzenishvili was not at a sufficient level to elevate this issue, and now they have brought forward, as they say in colloquial terms, another foreign agent — Gvaramia — to raise the same issue.

This is one chain. Foreign agents receive assignments and then carry them out. They have launched a campaign about how Georgia should hand Abkhazia over to the Russian Federation. This is a very clear line of the campaign.

After this, they should not be offended when we call them people without a homeland and criticize their patriotism, which they, in fact, do not have,” the prime minister said.
