PM: Building strong state together with Abkhazians, Ossetians to be best prospect
Building a peaceful, strong, developed state together with Abkhazians and Ossetians is the best prospect for us – for all of us – and thus, it is a common task for all of us, the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili issued a statement in connection with the 31st anniversary of the war in Abkhazia.
“31 years have passed since the break-out of the Abkhazia War – one of the most tragic events in our history!
The unjustified confrontation cost the lives of many of our citizens – soldiers and civilians – on both sides.
Together with our entire society of the country, I once again honor the bright memory of each of them.
Territorial conflicts and their consequences – temporary occupation of our indigenous lands, displacement of hundreds of thousands of people within their own homeland, relations with Abkhazians and Ossetians – remain to be the main challenge of our state and society, which can only be responded by unwavering protection of peace, restoration of trust, common and universal development of the country.
Building a peaceful, strong, developed state together with Abkhazians and Ossetians is the best prospect for us – for all of us – and thus, it is a common task for all of us. I strongly believe that a prudent peace policy based on the restoration of trust, which we have been implementing since coming to power, will consistently bring us closer to this goal,” PM declared.
