“I believe our country has more supporters than opponents in Europe,” said Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili in his annual report at the parliament.
According to the PM, many European leaders are involved in the process and support Georgia’s EU candidate status at the end of the year.
“We expect a rational and wise decision from our European friends. I believe our country has more supporters than opponents in Europe. Many European leaders are involved in the process and support Georgia’s EU candidate status at the end of the year,” the PM said.
Irakli Garibashvili remarked that one of the recommendations concerning depolarization remains unfulfilled due to “sabotage and boycott of the irresponsible opposition.”
He stressed he had told the European partners that candidate status would reduce polarization in the country.
“I told them and I said it openly that if they are acrually interested, and I believe they are interested, in reducing polarization in the country, the country, the people, and our government should receive the status,” he said.
Irakli Garibashvili stressed that the previous government did nothing on the path of European integration. “Therefore, I think our society, our partners will make the right decision,” he concluded.
