“An authoritarian system was established between 2004 and 2012; the quality of democracy was negligible, and the human rights situation was dire in the country,” said Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze in a live broadcast of the Open Air programme.

According to the PM, the so-called super president managed to establish a distorted constitutional rule through a distorted constitution that led to grave consequences.

“The situation was dire in all key areas. The main issues were democracy and human rights. We speak about this often, yet it is worth focusing on the topic once again: a clearly authoritarian system was established.

An authoritarian system was established between 2004 and 2012; the quality of democracy was negligible, and the human rights situation was dire in the country.

Through a distorted Constitution, the previous government and the so-called super president managed to establish a system that led to grave consequences with respect to democracy and human rights. The violation of human rights was a grim, everyday reality that prevailed between 2004 and 2012,” he said.
