Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze attended the civil funeral of repatriated bodies of those individuals who had been missing since the 1992–1993 armed conflict in Abkhazia at the Sameba (Holy Trinity) Cathedral in Tbilisi.
The PM, along with Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili and executive and legislative government members, offered condolence to the deceased individuals’ families and relatives.
Sixteen individuals, among them seven soldiers and nine civilians, were repatriated through the cooperation of the State Minister’s Office for Reconciliation and Civil Equality and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
Four soldiers will be buried at the Dighomi Brothers Cemetery, while others will be laid to rest at family cemeteries with military honour.
