PM: Askaneli Resort to add tourist appeal to Kakheti; 5-star hotel to create 100 permanent jobs for locals
“I am happy that we are opening a 5-star hotel complex, Askaneli Resort, in this beautiful village of Sanavardo,” said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during the opening of Askaneli Resort in the Kakheti region.
According to the PM, the hotel complex comprises modern-standard infrastructure, a spa, Kakhuri courtyard and gastronomy spaces.
The PM emphasized that the project was implemented with the standards and partnership of hotel operator Windham, which planned to expand the complex by adding conference and concert halls and residential villas to the area.
“All this will add even greater tourist appeal to Kakheti in the future, while the hotel will create 100 permanent jobs for the local population. The initiative is an excellent example of successful cooperation between the private and state sectors and best reflects our vision regarding the development of regions.
An investment of 35 million was made in the hotel, while 70 million GEL was invested in the development of the plant and vineyards. All of this very clearly demonstrates the scale of this initiative,” he said.
The PM underscored the support of the government in new initiatives which are “vital for the economic development,” and stated that the construction of “this type of hotel takes on particular significance, given the constantly growing tourist flows in our country.”
Irakli Kobakhidze touched on increasing year-on-year revenues from tourism and stressed the contribution of business in this trend.
“Here, we should mention remarkable achievements of Askaneli company, which is distinguished by its exceptional commitment to quality. Notably, the estate encompasses 400 hectares of land, including its vineyards. Askaneli is one of the country’s largest wine exporters, selling over 20 million bottles of wine annually.
This company guarantees the purchase of 22,000 tons of grapes annually from winegrowers in Kakheti. It has won over 700 awards on the international stage, a fact that clearly demonstrates the company’s commitment to maintaining an exceptionally high level of quality. It is also welcome that, besides producing high-quality wine, the company develops gastronomic and tourist spaces, and today’s project is a good confirmation of that.
I am confident that this 5-star hotel will bring significant benefits to this region, the Kvareli Municipality, and the entire Kakheti region,” he said and extended gratitude to all those involved in the project’s implementation.
