PM accuses opposition of using PR tactics to cover up corruption charges

“There are people who are suspected of corruption and they are trying to cover up the charges that may exist against them through certain PR manoeuvres, and for this they simply pay money to Khabeishvili, Meladze and others,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists in Samegrelo.

According to the head of government, they are financed by specific individuals who were suspected of corruption and who had to leave the team.

“There are certain individuals whom some perceive as UNM supporters, but in reality, they are financed by specific individuals suspected of corruption, who were compelled to leave the team. For example, Levan Khabeishvili, who received a monthly salary and even had a nickname on the payroll, is one such case. Similarly, Nodar Meladze (Head of News at TV Pirveli) is also funded by the same source. He receives directives from this particular group suspected of corruption, related to the dissemination of specific information.

Some individuals seek to conceal their own charges. Those suspected of corruption are attempting to obscure potential allegations against them through various PR manoeuvres—simply by paying money to Khabeishvili, Meladze, and others,” stated the Prime Minister.
