The Political Secretary of the President of Georgia Pikria Chikhradze calls on the Speaker of the Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze to start the procedures for President’s impeachment. Chikhradze responded to the statement of the Speaker of the Parliament.
“During two days, we hear gravest allegations on the one hand, on the other hand, the attempt to escape from these allegations.
If they do not have ability to appeal to the relevant agencies in order to launch the appropriate procedures, we can give recommendation – there is a parliamentary experience in this direction.
When the Speaker of the Parliament puts the hardest accusations against the President the impeachment procedure should be initiated. Otherwise, it means that we are listening to the irresponsible statements on a daily basis”, – Pikria Chikhradze said.
Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze made a statement regarding the pardoning issue at the plenary session. He accused the president of abusing the pardon rights. Irakli Kobakhidze spoke about the experience of the presidents of other countries and said that “President Margvelashvili’s practice can have the following grounds: irresponsible attitude, corruption and deliberate destruction of the law enforcement system”.
