Permanent Representative to OSCE: Group of Friends of Georgia decries Russia's aggression, ongoing occupation
“It is paramount that all international forums send clear, supportive messages to Georgia,” – stated Ketevan Tsikhelashvili, Georgian Ambassador to Austria and Permanent Representative to the OSCE.
Georgia, as Ketevan Tsikhelashvili pointed out, should have friends and allies in the OSCE.
“Within the framework of the OSCE Ministerial, the Group of Friends of Georgia condemned Russia’s aggression against Georgia in 2008, as well as the current occupation, emphasising this term and all of the severe security and humanitarian consequences Russia is accountable for.
They urged Russia to withdraw its forces from Georgian territory and respect Georgia’s and its neighbours’ territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Their statement also mentions the murder of the Georgian citizen, Tamaz Ginturi, as the most severe, extreme manifestation of the pressure under which the Georgian population has to live on both sides of the barbed wire.
We will continue mobilizing these efforts in the future,” said Tzihelashvili.
