People's Power Macharashvili vows to do everything to protect court from provocations

“Those who argue that defamation should be punishable—describing it as a restriction—should remember what happened in Germany. 147 private homes were raided because someone posted a hate speech sentence on social media,” Guram Macharashvili, Executive Secretary of the People’s Power party, stated.

As Macharashvili explained to the GPB First Channel, one should first condemn restrictions on the media in Germany before discussing Georgia.

“As for the media coverage within the courtroom, judicial processes are protected in all countries to prevent provocations. Based on my observations recently, such incidents occur neither in leading democratic nations nor in any functioning state. Therefore, we will do everything necessary to safeguard the court from provocations,” said Macharashvili.
