Patriarchate: Church stands for peace, rejects confrontation

The Georgian Patriarchate issued a statement reaffirming that the Church has always been, and will remain, a supporter of peace and Christian values, distancing itself from any radical calls or actions that could fuel confrontation.

According to the statement, elections are a democratic means for the people to express their will.

“Elections, both in Georgia and elsewhere, are often accompanied by tension. Unfortunately, there are constant attempts to involve clergy in this process, which is wrong,” the Patriarchate said.

It emphasized that the Georgian Orthodox Church, as a unifying force of the nation, cannot be presented as a political party.

“May God bless all of Georgia with peace,” the statement concludes.
