Passenger traffic at Georgia’s international airports reaches 3.6 million in first half of 2026

The number and frequency of direct flights from Georgia’s international airports continue to increase, reflecting the steady development of the country’s aviation market, Levan Moseshvili, Director General of the United Airports of Georgia, said.

According to Moseshvili, passenger traffic at Georgia’s three international airports reached nearly 3.6 million during the first half of the year.

“Aviation is a growing sector worldwide, and this growth is particularly evident in Georgia. Last year’s statistical indicators, ongoing investments, and the interest shown by airlines are clear examples. Interest in Georgia from major players in the aviation industry is increasing significantly, and we are pleased to be keeping pace with this demand,” he said.

Moseshvili noted that active work is underway both to develop airport infrastructure and to attract additional airlines through negotiations, with the aim of increasing the number of flights and expanding the presence of international carriers in Georgia.

“We are developing both our airports and our cooperation with airlines. We are actively working to ensure that more flights are operated to Georgia, more airlines enter the market, and passengers have access to comfortable and safe travel,” he said.

According to Moseshvili, the development of the aviation sector is closely linked to the growth of tourism, economic expansion, and the country’s overall stability.

“All of this creates a strong package for international visitors, demonstrating that Georgia is developing steadily, its tourism sector is expanding, and the country is ready to welcome international travelers and encourage even greater passenger flows in the future,” he added.
