The part of parliamentary opposition calls for an extraordinary meeting of the Georgian parliament, saying this request portrays “a proper move towards depolarization.”
In a statement, the parties UNM, Lelo, Republican Party, For Georgia, Strategy Agmashenebeli, as well as independent MPs: Armaz Akhvlediani, Shalva Shavgulidze, Tamar Charkviani, Tamar Kordzaia, Salome Samadashvili, and Davit Bakradze, claim their request addresses three of 12 points by European Council – rooting out political polarization, ensuring judicial independence, creating an anti-corruption agency, and probe the cases of elite corruption.
The opponents pledge that, despite the request rejection, they would continue to take the “necessary steps to fulfil our national task – recommendations for European integration.”
