Members of the Georgian parliamentary delegation, headed by Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, met Advisor to the British Prime Minister, David Quarrey, during their visit to the United Kingdom.

The parties discussed the situation around Ukraine and regional security issues. Papuashvili remarked that Ukraine and Georgia could be considered in the same context since the developments and risks over Ukraine might affect Georgia.

“The issue of Ukraine is not a separate matter – in this case, together with Ukraine, we mean Georgia, our security and territorial integrity. The clear message was that Britain would continue to support Georgia’s efforts to join NATO actively,” said Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chairman of the parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee.

“Pleased to meet David Quarrey, UK PM’s foreign policy adviser. Conveyed gratitude for UK’s contribution to strengthening Georgia’s democratic institutions. Discussed Russian occupation & threats, & Georgia’s forward-looking agenda. We continue deepening our strategic partnership,” Shalva Papuashvili tweeted.

The Georgian parliamentary delegation includes Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee Nikoloz Samkharadze, Head of the Parliament Speaker’s Office Levan Makharashvili and MPs Nino Tsilosani, Giorgi Khelashvili and Teona Akubardia.
