Parliamentary committees reject president’s nominees for NBG Board

The Financial, Budgetary, and  Sector Economy Policy Committees rejected Giorgi Bakradze’s and Dimitri Japaridze’s candidacies for two vacant positions on the National Bank (NBG) Board.

It was anticipated that the ruling Georgian Dream Party would not support the candidates proposed by the President. The ruling party deemed the President’s decision to nominate candidates without prior consultation unacceptable.

On June 16, President Salome Zourabichvili presented the nominations of Giorgi Bakradze and Dimitri Japaridze for vacant positions on the NBG Board.
