Parliamentary Committee hears State Security Service leadership candidate

The meeting of the Parliament’s Defense and Security Committee, where Tamaz Borashvili, the candidate for head of the State Security Service, is being heard, is being held behind closed doors.

The meeting opened with a presentation by Borashvili, while the current question-and-answer session is being conducted in a closed format.

In his address, Borashvili outlined his priorities, saying that his goal is to protect the state’s national interests, maintain peace, and ensure national security.

Parliament will vote on Borashvili’s candidacy during today’s plenary session.

The head of the State Security Service is elected by Parliament for a six-year term.
