Parliament Speaker’s Montenegro Visit to Focus on Deepening Relations, Says MP Mezurnishvili

Irakli Mezurnishvili, the First Deputy Chairman of the Economic Policy Committee and Head of the Permanent Delegation of the Georgian Parliament to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization, announced that high-level meetings will take place during the official visit of the Speaker of Parliament to Montenegro.

According to Mezurnishvili, meetings are scheduled with the Speakers of the Parliaments of Malta and Montenegro, focusing on strengthening bilateral parliamentary relations.

“The official visit of the Speaker of Parliament to Budva is ongoing. High-level meetings will be held today. The first meeting will be with the Speaker of the Parliament of Malta, which has supported Georgia in its path toward European integration in various formats. We will discuss bilateral relations to further deepen our parliamentary cooperation. We also plan to strengthen the Friendship Group format to make our relations more intensive.

Additionally, we will meet with the Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro, a candidate country for EU membership. It is important to share the experiences this country has gained throughout this challenging process. I am confident that this summit will be productive in advancing discussions on issues important to our country,” stated Mezurnishvili.

The Georgian Parliament speaker Shalva Papuashvili will participate in the first summit of Speakers of Parliaments from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) member and partner countries in Budva, Montenegro. Papuashvili will attend the event as the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC).

As part of the summit, he is expected to deliver a speech and hold bilateral meetings with speakers of parliament from various countries.
