Parliament Speaker calls for immediate transparency on EED's activities in Georgia
“Brussels must immediately disclose what the European Endowment for Democracy (EED) is financing in Georgia – transparency of funds spent in the name of foreign aid is an obligation, not a choice,” writes Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on social media.
According to Papuashvili, the public has a legitimate interest in this fund’s activities.
“Brussels must immediately disclose what the European Endowment for Democracy (EED) is financing in Georgia. After the new U.S. administration exposed the use of American taxpayers’ money for harmful political purposes, the public has a legitimate interest in this fund’s activities. This is especially important given that the EED has been previously involved in numerous scandals. Transparency of funds spent in the name of foreign aid is an obligation, not a choice.”
