Parliament Speaker addresses Azerbaijan's National Assembly

Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili addressed the National Assembly of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

Shalva Papuashvili remarked that Heydar Aliyev played a primary role in the establishment of the modern Azerbaijani state. In his words, Aliyev strengthened the national spirit of the Azerbaijani people, promoted a national awakening, and laid a solid foundation for national statehood.

“By implementing effective policies in various directions, he transformed the country into a strong, stable and successful state. As a result, President Heydar Aliyev won the most valuable thing in the world – the heart of his nation,” he said.

The Speaker went on to say that Heydar Aliyev supported peace and stability in the South Caucasus, adding the Georgian government valued his role in the Georgia-Azerbaijan friendship and strategic partnership.

“On this remarkable and historic day, I wish the Azerbaijani people peace, success and prosperity. We are ready to intensify bilateral relations between our parliaments, countries and peoples,” he said.
