Parliament hosts conference dedicated to 26-century-old friendship between Georgian-Jewish people

The Diaspora and Caucasus Issues Committee jointly with the Ministry of IDPs organized the Conference “Georgian-Jewish Relations” dedicated to the 26-century-old friendship between the Georgian and Jewish people in the National Library of the Parliament.

The Conference included the presentation of the Sokhumi-born Georgian Jewish writer, Iakob Ofir–Efremashvili “History of Jews of Georgia” (based on the archive material). The National Center of Manuscripts introduced the exhibition “History of Jews in Georgia”.

The Chair of the Diaspora Committee, Beka Odisharia addressed the attendees, emphasizing the importance of peace and centuries-old relations between Georgians and Jews.

“I hope peace will soon reign in the holy land. The truth will celebrate over defeated evil. I believe that together, we rooted a foundation for the greatest deed today and this work will take its dignified place in the 26-century-old friendship between the Georgian and Jewish people”,  he stated.
