Parliament elects 3 non-judge members of HCoJ

Georgian parliament elected three non-judge members of the High Council of Justice (HCoJ), Tristan Benashvili, Giorgi Gzobava and Zurab Guraspashvili.

Twenty-nine candidates will be put for a vote. Each candidate needs at least 90 votes to be elected.

One part of the opposition left the session hall during the balloting. The parliamentary majority accused the opponents of sabotaging the vote and waging a campaign against EU candidate status.

There are five vacant seats in the High Council of Justice (HCoJ).
