The Parliament has approved four new members to the Board of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG). The draft resolutions were voted on, and Vakhtang Burkiashvili, Otar Shamugia, Nino Jeladze, and Levan Dzneladze were selected to fill the four vacant positions.
After the vote, Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili emphasized the significance of ending the sabotage and ensuring the National Bank can operate with a fully staffed Board.
“For nearly a year and a half, we struggled to fully staff the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) Board due to the sabotage by former President Zourabichvili. As a result, the National Bank had to operate with only five members. We ended this disruption with the October 26 parliamentary elections and the presidential elections. Moving forward, the National Bank will be able to resume its activities with a whole board,” Papuashvili stated.
